On October 19, President Donald Trump said on X that the U.S. Department of Interior will begin an immediate renovation of a golf course in Washington, D.C.

Trump wrote that the department intends to turn what he called “a terrible and very unsafe golf course” into “a great, safe, and prestigious golf course.” He asserted, “They have an absolute right to do so,” adding that the agency does not need any approval for the work. “Work is scheduled to begin IMMEDIATELY!” he posted, promising a “World Class” renovation that would “bring income and great prestige back to D.C.”

Addressing a related lawsuit, Trump attacked the judge on the case, writing: “The judge on the case is a crazed lunatic whose courthouse tapes will reveal, may be insane?” He also claimed those tapes had been blocked from use by the judge. Referring to the plaintiff, Trump wrote: “The random golfer bringing the ridiculous lawsuit has ZERO STANDING!” The post concluded with the signature, “President DJT.”

Trump did not provide additional details about the project, the specific course, or the legal proceedings beyond his characterizations in the post.
