OpenAI Launches Dots AI Agents, Introduces GPT-6.1 Sol at DevDay

Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI said Tuesday it began rolling out Dots, always-on artificial intelligence agents designed to work on a user's behalf across connected applications and devices, during its DevDay event.

Powered by GPT-6 Astra, Dots can use their own cloud computer and browser, connect to more than 4,000 apps through plugins and perform tasks such as research, project work and software development, with access through ChatGPT, Slack and Teams, OpenAI said.

The product is initially rolled out to Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise users in eligible markets, along with a preview of specialist dots for access management, IT-provisioned hardware and deeper company-system integrations, OpenAI said.

Separately, OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Sol, which it said offers stronger coding, computer use, and professional-work capabilities than GPT-6 Sol while approaching GPT-6 Astra's performance at a lower cost.

GPT-6.1 Sol is available to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex and through the OpenAI API, OpenAI said.
