Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) is set to lose a prominent Google researcher as Noam Shazeer announced on social media site X that he is leaving the company to join OpenAI.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Shazeer will join OpenAI as the lead for AI architecture research. Open AI has filed IPO plans with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Shazeer's depature from Google comes as several tech enterprises, including Anthropic, Meta Platforms (META), the China-based DeepSeek and others vie for success in the emergent AI industry.
Google and OpenAI did not immediately respond for a request for comment from MT Newswires.
