Nvidia's PC Chip Announcement Shows AI Trade Moving Beyond GPUs -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-02

0357 GMT - Nvidia's latest PC chip signals that the AI trade is moving beyond GPUs, Saxo Markets' Charu Chanana says in a research note. The next phase of AI is likely to be less about one chip and more about the full stack needed to scale AI, from CPU, GPU, memory to networking and servers, she says. This means that the beneficiary list is expanding. Arm is the architecture beneficiary and Microsoft is the Windows AI gatekeeper, she notes. MediaTek, which developed the latest PC chip with Nvidia, gets exposure to a higher-end computing opportunity beyond smartphones and connected devices. Companies like Broadcom and Marvell work on the networking layer to scale up data centers and PC makers like Dell and Lenovo will make Nvidia chip-powered PCs, she adds. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
