Zoom Communications' bet on artificial-intelligence start-up Anthropic might be about to pay off in a big way.

Zoom stock rose 11% to $112.64 on Monday after Anthropic announced plans to go public, confidentially submitting a draft S-1 to the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering.

Video calling company Zoom invested $51 million in Anthropic through its venture-investment arm in 2023. That investment has currently surged in value to more than $1 billion and it could grow a lot larger with the Anthropic IPO.

In late May, Zoom also disclosed it had invested an additional $46 million in Anthropic between the end of January and April.
