A Qatari military helicopter has crashed in an accident in the country's territorial waters, killing some members of the Qatari and Turkish militaries, officials from both countries said, as the Emirate steps up efforts to protect its territory against attacks from Iranian missiles and drones.

The Ministry of Defense in Doha said the bodies of six passengers out of seven who were on board had been recovered. The dead included three members of the Qatari military, a Turkish officer belonging to a joint Turkish-Qatari force and two Turkish civilians.

Turkey's defense ministry confirmed a Turkish soldier and two personnel from defense company Aselsan were killed, saying the crash occurred during a training flight due to a technical issue.
