President Trump announced the U.S. military had begun major combat operations against Iran, in a video statement posted early on Saturday.
"Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime," he said, framed by flags and wearing a white USA hat. He blamed Iran for waging "an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder" targeting the U.S. and its allies.
"It's been mass terror, and we're not going to put up with it any longer," he said.
