Intercontinental Exchange Reports Record Trading Activity in January

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) said Tuesday that January was its strongest trading month ever, with 245.8 million derivative contracts traded.

The company reported average daily volume of 12 million for futures and options, including 7.7 million commodity contracts and 7.2 million energy contracts, the company said.

Natural gas average daily volume reached 3 million for the month, Intercontinental Exchange said.

The company also said the daily average notional value for US equities reached $202.5 billion in January, along with futures open interest of 60 million contracts on Jan. 29.
