Supply Risks in Energy Markets Rise Amid Middle East Tensions -- Market Talk
Dow Jones06-23
0312 GMT - Supply risks for energy markets have risen significantly after the U.S. targeted Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend, ING's head of commodities strategy Warren Patterson writes in a note. "The big question now is how Iran responds," Patterson says. A major risk for the oil market is Iran attempting to disrupt shipping flows through the Strait of Hormuz, Patterson says, noting that a quarter of seaborne oil trade moves through the strait. Front-month WTI crude oil futures are up 1.9% at $75.26/bbl; front-month Brent crude oil futures are 1.8% higher at $78.43/bbl.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
