BlackSky Technology Supplies First Gen-3 Satellite to Rocket Lab for Expected Launch in February

BlackSky Technology (BKSY) said Thursday it supplied a Gen-3 satellite to Rocket Lab (RKLB), which is scheduled for launch in February from Rocket Lab's launch facility in Mahia, New Zealand.

According to BlackSky, the new defense and intelligence satellites will provide automated detection, identification and classification of a large group of vehicles, aircraft, vessels and other objects of tactical interest. They will also feature high-resolution, rapid-revisit 35-centimeter imagery along with artificial intelligence-enabled analytics, it said.

BKSY shares were edging 0.3% lower while RKLB shares were 0.2% higher in early trading.
