Shares of PacWest have been halted several times for volatility Tuesday morning, plummeting some 30%.

More than 50,000 bearish put options contracts tied to the stock changed hands before 11 a.m. E.T., Cboedata show, already the second highest daily sum on record. The previous high, of nearly 126,000, contracts was set on Monday.

-- Roughly three-fourths of options wagers were against the stock. Put
options grant the right to sell shares at a certain price by a certain
date, while call options give the right to buy.

-- Similar options activity hit $First Republic Bank(FRC-N)$ as it lost half its
      value last week
      .
The SPDR S&P Regional Bank ETF is seeing heavy wagering against it,
becoming the fifth-most traded stock-options contract on Tuesday,
      according to Cboe.

Investors are betting against PacWest shares today too.
