On August 22, 2025, the Hong Kong stock market closed with mixed results. The Hang Seng Index rose by 0.93%, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index increased by 1.17%, while the Hang Seng Tech Index saw a significant rise of 2.71%. However, the Hang Seng Composite Index slightly declined by 0.33%.

In terms of industry sectors, the Hong Kong semiconductor sector showed a notable increase, with SMIC rising by 10.06% and HUA HONG SEMI surging by 17.85%. The SaaS concept stocks also performed well, with KINGDEE INT'L up by 3.66% and KINGSOFT increasing by 3.87%. The tech sector was led by TENCENT, which rose by 1.18% as its stock price broke through HKD 600, reaching a near four-and-a-half-year high.

XPENG-W experienced a significant surge of 13.60% in Hong Kong, reflecting investor confidence after the CEO increased his stake, signaling optimism in the company's growth potential. KUAISHOU-W rose by 4.39% following a record high quarterly profit, driven by strong performance in its core business and accelerated AI commercialization.

Conversely, BILIBILI-W fell by 6.15% despite exceeding Q2 earnings expectations, indicating investor dissatisfaction. The aviation sector faced a downturn, with AIR CHINA dropping by 5.13% amid broader declines in the sector.
