During the New York late session on Tuesday (January 27), spot gold surged by 3.52%, reaching a new all-time high of $5,187.37 per ounce. The price had been trending upwards within a range of $5,013.93 to $5,100 since the early Asia-Pacific session, with a notable acceleration in gains starting from 04:00.
COMEX gold futures rose by 1.82% to $5,175.10 per ounce. For most of the day, prices held steady around $5,080, before hitting a record high of $5,187.20 in electronic trading as U.S. markets closed at 05:00. The April contract gained 3.45% compared to the previous session's close, settling at $5,217.30, after also reaching a historic peak of $5,225.80.
