In recent years, as major tech companies have aggressively invested in artificial intelligence, Apple has remained notably quiet. However, Wedbush suggests this may finally be about to change.
In a new report released ahead of the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next month, the firm described Apple as a "sleeping tech giant" in the AI race. Wedbush believes the company may be approaching a significant inflection point as it prepares to unveil its long-anticipated AI strategy to investors.
The excitement surrounding WWDC extends beyond simply introducing another chatbot or flashy feature. Wedbush posits that Apple is planning something more substantial: transforming its entire ecosystem into a consumer-grade AI platform built around the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and its extensive services business. This could ultimately allow users to choose between different AI models for Apple's intelligent features, including deeper integration with Google's Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT.
What sets Apple apart from most AI players is the scale of its ecosystem. The company boasts over 2.5 billion active iOS devices globally, providing a massive installed base for monetizing AI through subscriptions, services, cloud storage, and premium features.
