According to an analysis from Saxo's Charu Chanana, the latest PC chip announcement from NVIDIA indicates that the artificial intelligence investment theme is broadening its scope beyond just graphics processing units.
She suggests the next phase of AI may not be confined to a single chip type but will increasingly involve the entire technology stack required to scale AI, encompassing central processing units, GPUs, memory, networking, and servers.
This expansion implies a growing list of beneficiaries. Chanana points out that Arm stands to gain in the architecture domain, while Microsoft holds a key position as the gatekeeper for Windows AI.
MediaTek, which collaborated with NVIDIA on the new PC chip, gains exposure to high-end computing opportunities beyond its core smartphone and connected device markets.
She adds that companies like Broadcom and Marvell Technology are working at the networking level to enable data center expansion, while PC manufacturers such as Dell Technologies and Lenovo Group will produce computers powered by the new NVIDIA chips.
