Xiaomi's Automotive Division Undergoes Executive Restructuring: Song Gang to Oversee Production and Smart Manufacturing

Xiaomi's automotive division has recently undergone personnel changes, with Vice President Song Gang now overseeing the Production Manufacturing Department, Smart Manufacturing Department, and System Operations Department. Song Gang previously held positions at Tesla, joining the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory in 2018 where he served as Senior Director of Production Manufacturing, Vice President of Production Manufacturing, and Plant Manager of the Shanghai factory. He also played a leading role in establishing the Tesla Shanghai Megafactory. In 2024, he joined Envision Energy as Senior Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain. This April, Song Gang was appointed Vice President and Chief of Staff of Xiaomi Group's automotive division. With his new responsibilities covering production manufacturing, smart manufacturing, and system operations, Song Gang is returning to his area of expertise from his Tesla days. He will report directly to Group CEO and President of the Automotive Division, Lei Jun, while continuing to serve concurrently as Chief of Staff for the automotive division.
