To train AI models, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Alphabet have been actively seeking specialized data, engaging in discussions with startups and public companies to license datasets in fields such as genomics.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, OpenAI representatives have approached multiple firms in recent months, including life sciences diagnostics provider Revvity, accounting software firm Xero, and companies in biotech, consumer healthcare, software, and financial services, exploring potential data licensing or other collaborative arrangements.
Meanwhile, DeepMind founder Zaven Dar revealed that Anthropic, DeepMind, and Alphabet’s AI-driven drug discovery subsidiary Isomorphic Labs have also initiated talks with early-stage biotech startups regarding data licensing or partnerships.
